Selecting the right compound is the difference between a seal that lasts months and one that lasts years. We utilize high-grade NBR for standard hydraulic applications due to its excellent oil resistance and compression set properties. For more demanding environments—such as mining or high-heat operations—we offer upgrades to Polyurethane or FKM. TPU offers superior abrasion resistance against debris common in excavator operation, while NBR provides the necessary elasticity to maintain a consistent seal across wide temperature gradients, preventing the common “stick-slip” phenomenon.

Installation of the UN seal requires attention to detail to ensure the integrity of the sealing lip. Because the seal acts as a dynamic barrier, any nicks or scratches on the lip during installation can lead to immediate operational failure. When installing, ensure the housing and cylinder rod are free of metallic burrs. We recommend using a non-metallic installation tool to gently guide the seal into the groove. Because of the inherent low-friction profile of the CFKS UN seal, maintenance intervals are significantly extended. Routine inspections should focus on the condition of the rod surface rather than the seal itself, as surface scoring is the primary catalyst for premature seal degradation.
