CFKS Multi-Lip Dust FKM Combi Seal 60*75*17.5/18.5 Gearbox Combi Oil Seal

The CFKS 60*75*17.5/18.5 Multi-Lip FKM Combi Seal is an ultra-premium rotary boundary component engineered to protect heavy-duty industrial gearboxes, power take-offs (PTOs), and heavy axle trunnions. By integrating an advanced Fluorocarbon (FKM) elastomeric matrix into a rigid, stepped-profile metal housing, this combined seal delivers absolute hydrodynamic oil retention while surviving extreme internal gear heat and actively plowing away severe external contamination.

  • FKM Thermal & Chemical Mastery: The advanced FKM matrix easily withstands continuous operational temperatures up to 200°C and is entirely immune to the aggressive sulfur/phosphorus Extreme Pressure (EP) additives found in modern synthetic gear oils.

  • Stepped 17.5/18.5mm Combi-Architecture: The main rigid body seats precisely at a 17.5mm depth within the housing bore, while the massive outer excluder lip projects to 18.5mm to create a physical barricade against heavy external debris.

  • Multi-Lip Labyrinth Defense: Unites a primary spring-energized fluid lip with a complex secondary dirt deflector, drastically extending the Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF) of expensive 60mm drivetrain bearings.

The core of this sealing system is dictated by its stepped 17.5/18.5mm depth profile. The primary inner lip is spring-energized to strictly retain heavy gear oil, even under dynamic shaft runout. Ahead of this hydrodynamic boundary, the seal features a massive, reinforced excluder lip. The structural housing presses securely into the 75mm bore to a depth of 17.5mm, allowing the outer dust lip to safely project outward to an overall width of 18.5mm. This engineered projection acts as a physical plow, aggressively deflecting packed mud, rock dust, and abrasive slurry. Any microscopic debris that bypasses this initial plow is trapped within a grease-filled intermediate cavity, forming an impenetrable labyrinth seal.

To combat this, the dynamic internal sealing elements are injection-molded from premium FKM (Fluorocarbon), widely known in the fluid power industry by the brand name Viton®. FKM remains highly elastic and structurally stable at continuous temperatures up to 200°C (392°F). Furthermore, heavy gearboxes mandate fully synthetic lubricants packed with aggressive EP additives. FKM is chemically inert to these harsh additive packages, ensuring a factory-perfect seal for thousands of operating hours.

From a plant maintenance and heavy-equipment rebuild perspective, installing a large-diameter, stepped FKM Combi seal requires strict adherence to alignment and lubrication protocols to guarantee maximum service life.

Critical Assembly Note: Because FKM is inherently less flexible at room temperature than standard NBR rubber, you must apply a generous amount of system-compatible lubricant to the 60mm shaft prior to installation to prevent the heavy lips from inverting, rolling, or tearing during assembly.

Before pressing the seal perfectly square into the 75mm housing bore using a dedicated installation mandrel, technicians must heavily pack the internal cavity between the primary oil lip and the outer dirt excluder with a high-temperature, waterproof synthetic grease. This establishes vital boundary lubrication, preventing the heavy FKM outer lips from burning up due to dry friction during initial startup.

Finally, thoroughly inspect the massive 60mm shaft. FKM lips are incredibly durable, but they cannot seal against deeply grooved or pitted steel. The shaft must be polished to a surface finish of 0.2 to 0.4 μm Ra. If the previous seal cut a deep wear groove, a stainless steel speed sleeve must be installed over the 60mm shaft to restore a flawless tracking surface.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Why does my CFKS oil seal fail prematurely? Common causes and prevention tips2025-06-26T15:44:39+08:00

Premature oil seal failure can result from improper installation, poor shaft finish, incorrect material selection, or excessive pressure. To prevent this, ensure the shaft surface is smooth and within tolerance, use correct tools during installation, and choose seals made from materials compatible with your media and temperature.

How to correctly install a CFKS industrial oil seal to avoid leakage2025-06-26T16:04:32+08:00

Always clean the shaft and bore before installation. Use appropriate seal drivers to avoid deformation. Lubricate the lip before fitting to reduce friction during the first rotation. Ensure the seal is seated evenly and not tilted to avoid leaks.

What to do when your CFKS hydraulic seal is leaking under pressure2025-05-20T16:33:14+08:00

Check if the pressure exceeds the seal’s rated limit. Examine for wear, hardening, or improper installation. Replace the seal if damaged, and consider upgrading to a high-pressure CFKS seal variant. Also, verify that the housing and shaft are properly aligned.

How to choose the right CFKS oil seal for extreme operating environments2025-05-20T16:34:39+08:00

For high temperatures, aggressive chemicals, or abrasive environments, choose CFKS seals made of FKM, PTFE, or high-performance elastomers. Consider using seals with protective dust lips or metal casing. Our team can recommend the best fit for your application.
