When operating in environments where heat and chemical resistance are paramount, FKM  is the industrial standard. Standard polyurethane seals may perform well at room temperature, but they often struggle with permanent deformation when subjected to heat. Our FKM UHS seals retain their elasticity and tensile strength at temperatures up to 220°C. Furthermore, FKM provides an inert barrier against a wide spectrum of hydraulic fluids, including fire-resistant phosphate esters and aggressive additives that would degrade standard NBR or PU compounds in a matter of weeks.

The performance of a UHS seal is heavily reliant on the integrity of the piston groove and the rod surface finish. When installing, it is imperative to ensure the groove is free of metal burrs or debris that could nick the FKM lip. Because the UHS seal is flexible, it can be “snapped” into the piston groove with minimal tooling; however, we strongly recommend using a rounded installation mandrel to avoid over-stretching the seal. Proper lubrication with system-compatible oil during installation is essential to prevent “dry start” damage, which can lead to premature abrasive wear.
