While Standard NBR suffices for basic, low-temperature uses, FKM is mandatory for applications involving high thermal loads and aggressive lubricants. FKM retains its elasticity and structural stability at continuous working temperatures ranging up to 220°C, where standard compounds harden, crack, and fail. Furthermore, FKM displays superior resistance to modern synthetic gear oils containing aggressive sulfur-phosphorus additives, preventing chemical swelling and degradation of the sealing lip profile.

Achieving a long operating life depends heavily on correct press-fit installation and shaft preparation. The outer metal-insert core of the TC seal is completely encased in rubber, ensuring a reliable static seal against the housing bore even with minor surface imperfections or thermal expansion differences. During assembly, the seal should be pressed into the bore using a dedicated installation tool that applies force evenly to the outer shoulder to prevent tilting. Pre-lubricating the sealing lips and the shaft with clean system grease before startup minimizes initial dry-running friction, safeguarding the contact zone during the critical initial rotation phase.
