The performance envelope of this specific Combi seal is defined by its superior material composition. Front hubs are heavily subjected to extreme thermal spikes radiating from heavy braking. Standard Nitrile (NBR) rubber begins to harden and crack when axle temperatures consistently exceed 100°C.

To combat this, the dynamic internal sealing elements are injection-molded from premium FKM (Fluorocarbon), widely known by the brand name Viton®. FKM remains highly elastic and structurally stable at continuous temperatures up to 200°C (392°F). Furthermore, it is entirely immune to the aggressive chemical attack of modern synthetic Extreme Pressure (EP) gear oils.

Before pressing the seal into the 62mm hub bore, technicians must heavily pack the internal cavity between the primary oil lip and the outer dirt excluder with a high-temperature, waterproof synthetic wheel bearing grease. This establishes vital boundary lubrication, preventing the heavy FKM outer lips from burning up due to dry friction during initial machine transport.

Additionally, because the outer case is bare steel, applying a thin layer of non-hardening, anaerobic flange sealant (such as Loctite or Permatex) to the 62mm outer diameter before pressing it perfectly square into the housing is mandatory. This completely fills any microscopic machining scratches in the cast-iron hub, eliminating the risk of slow capillary fluid weeping.
