While Nitrile (NBR) is excellent for oil, it rapidly degrades and suffers from hydrolysis when exposed to high-temperature water and steam. To combat this, our 15*24*5mm seals are molded from a highly cross-linked Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer (EPDM) rubber. EPDM is structurally immune to water absorption and offers unparalleled thermal stability in boiling environments. Additionally, this specialized waterproof rubber exhibits outstanding resistance to the harsh alkaline-based detergents and descaling chemicals frequently used in fluid transfer systems, ensuring the seal maintains its elastic memory over millions of rotational cycles.

From a maintenance engineering perspective, maximizing the lifecycle of this EPDM water gasket requires strict adherence to installation protocols. The mating shaft must be polished to a surface finish of 0.2 to 0.4 μm Ra; microscopic grooving will act as an abrasive file against the rubber lip. Most importantly, EPDM is strictly incompatible with petroleum-based lubricants. During assembly, technicians must pre-lubricate the dynamic sealing lip using a silicone-based grease or the aqueous system fluid itself. Applying standard mineral oil or lithium grease to an EPDM seal will cause immediate chemical swelling and catastrophic failure upon pump startup.
