In demanding hydraulic environments, standard rubber seals often fail due to extrusion or high thermal friction. Our Glyd Rings utilize a Bronze-filled PTFE matrix, which offers significantly higher compressive strength and superior thermal conductivity compared to virgin PTFE or NBR. This material selection allows the seal to operate within a temperature range of -30°C to +110°C while resisting the “cold flow” common in lesser materials. The bronze reinforcement acts as a solid lubricant, protecting the seal face during dry-start conditions and extending the service life of the cylinder bore.

From a maintenance perspective, the 60*49*4.2 size is engineered for a “snap-in” fit into closed grooves, though we recommend using an expansion mandrel or heating the PTFE ring in oil to 80°C – 100°C for easier installation. Because the PTFE material has a high modulus of elasticity and low friction coefficient, it significantly reduces the “breakout force” required to move the piston, thereby reducing wear on the hydraulic pump and actuators. This results in a longer mean time between maintenance (MTBM) and lower overall operational costs for heavy-duty industrial machinery.
