FKM provides a monumental leap in drivetrain survivability. It remains structurally stable and retains its flexible memory at continuous operating temperatures up to 200°C (392°F). Furthermore, modern heavy-duty axles utilize advanced synthetic gear oils packed with aggressive sulfur and phosphorus EP additives. While these chemicals can harden and crack standard rubber over time, FKM is completely chemically inert to them, ensuring a factory-perfect seal for thousands of operating hours.

From a heavy-equipment maintenance perspective, replacing a Combi seal is a labor-intensive job, and doing it right the first time is critical.

Critical Assembly Note: Because FKM is inherently less flexible at room temperature than standard rubber, applying a generous amount of system-compatible lubricant to the 35mm shaft prior to installation is mandatory to prevent lip inversion or tearing.

Before pressing the heavy-duty steel case into the 52mm axle trumpet bore, technicians must heavily pack the internal cavity between the primary oil lip and the outer dirt excluder with a high-temperature, waterproof synthetic grease. This establishes vital boundary lubrication, preventing the heavy FKM outer lips from burning up due to dry friction during initial machine transport. Finally, thoroughly inspect the 35mm shaft; if the previous seal wore a deep groove into the steel, a stainless steel speed sleeve must be installed to provide a fresh, smooth surface for the new FKM lips.
