CFKS Double Shell TA Oil Seal 28.87*41.5*6.35 Metal Case Rubber TA Shaft Oil Seal for Industrial

The CFKS 28.87*41.5*6.35 Double Shell TA Oil Seal is a heavy-duty rotary shaft seal engineered for extreme industrial environments. Characterized by its dual metal case architecture, this seal provides unparalleled structural rigidity and superior bore retention, making it the premier choice for large cast-iron gearboxes, heavy machinery, and high-vibration power transmission systems where standard rubber-coated seals might vibrate loose or deform.

  • Extreme Structural Rigidity: The double-shell metal casing prevents seal distortion during installation and under severe dynamic loads.

  • Positive Bore Retention: Precision-ground outer metal casing ensures a tight, secure press-fit into heavy industrial housings.

  • Optimized Dynamic Lip: The internal elastomeric lip, energized by a mechanical garter spring, maintains a constant hydrodynamic boundary against the rotating shaft.

The mechanical superiority of the CFKS “TA” style double-shell seal lies in its rigid composite architecture. Unlike standard “TC” seals that feature a rubber-coated outer diameter, the TA profile utilizes an exposed outer metal shell structurally reinforced by an inner metal cup. This dual-casing design absorbs immense transverse vibrations and prevents the seal from twisting, warping, or “backing out” of the housing bore under heavy mechanical shock. Internally, the primary elastomeric lip relies on a hydrodynamic interference fit. As the 28.87mm shaft rotates, the lip shears the lubricating oil to create a microscopic fluid film, while the integrated garter spring provides constant radial tension to compensate for eventual lip wear and minor shaft runout.

In severe industrial applications, the structural integrity of the seal is just as critical as its chemical resistance. The outer and inner shells of our TA seals are stamped from high-grade Cold-Rolled Carbon Steel, providing the high compressive yield strength necessary for heavy interference fits. The dynamic sealing element is securely bonded to this metal frame and is typically molded from high-density Nitrile Butadiene Rubber (NBR). This premium NBR formulation effortlessly handles standard industrial gear oils, mineral lubricants, and petroleum-based greases at operating temperatures up to 100°C. For extreme thermal environments, the lip material can be upgraded to FKM (Fluoroelastomer).

From a maintenance engineering perspective, installing a double-shell metal seal requires stricter protocols than a rubber-coated seal. Because metal-to-metal interfaces cannot inherently compensate for deep scratches in the housing bore, the receiving bore must be machined cleanly and free of severe gouges. Crucially, a liquid bore sealant (such as a non-hardening Permatex or Loctite compound) must be applied to the outer metal shell prior to installation. This prevents static oil weepage around the outside of the seal. Furthermore, technicians must use a proper installation mandrel—striking the seal directly with a hammer will crush the dual shells, permanently distorting the dynamic lip geometry and causing immediate failure.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Why does my CFKS oil seal fail prematurely? Common causes and prevention tips2025-06-26T15:44:39+08:00

Premature oil seal failure can result from improper installation, poor shaft finish, incorrect material selection, or excessive pressure. To prevent this, ensure the shaft surface is smooth and within tolerance, use correct tools during installation, and choose seals made from materials compatible with your media and temperature.

How to correctly install a CFKS industrial oil seal to avoid leakage2025-06-26T16:04:32+08:00

Always clean the shaft and bore before installation. Use appropriate seal drivers to avoid deformation. Lubricate the lip before fitting to reduce friction during the first rotation. Ensure the seal is seated evenly and not tilted to avoid leaks.

What to do when your CFKS hydraulic seal is leaking under pressure2025-05-20T16:33:14+08:00

Check if the pressure exceeds the seal’s rated limit. Examine for wear, hardening, or improper installation. Replace the seal if damaged, and consider upgrading to a high-pressure CFKS seal variant. Also, verify that the housing and shaft are properly aligned.

How to choose the right CFKS oil seal for extreme operating environments2025-05-20T16:34:39+08:00

For high temperatures, aggressive chemicals, or abrasive environments, choose CFKS seals made of FKM, PTFE, or high-performance elastomers. Consider using seals with protective dust lips or metal casing. Our team can recommend the best fit for your application.
